2022 Exam Results

Well done to all our Year 11 pupils!

After such a challenging time, our wonderful pupils have achieved some excellent GCSE results this year!

80% of pupils achieved a Grade 4 (standard pass) or better, in English, and 77% in Maths.

72% of pupils passed both English and Maths at Grade 4+, which is a tremendous achievement.

44% of pupils attained a Grade 5 or higher in both English and Maths; our attainment 8 score is 47.57, and our EBacc average point score is 3.88.

Our Progress 8 Score is +0.08, which is above national average, and above the county average for Hampshire.

In terms of performance data, this has been a 'transition year' between 2021 (when teacher assessments were used), and 2019 (the last year external exams took place). This year, exam boards marked pupils' exam papers in the usual way, and then set grade boundaries between 2021 and 2019 levels. This means that overall grades will be about halfway between the two nationally.

Pupils' grades are not affected by any of our school's historical data, including what our pupils achieved last year. Marking and grading have been carried out at a national level, with all pupils across the country being treated in the same way. Colleges and sixth forms understand that grading is different this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs Merefield, our exams officer, who can advise you on the next steps.

Finally, remember that you are more than just a grade. The resilience you have shown under such conditions is remarkable. You are all exceptional, inspiring and talented young people, and we couldn't be prouder of every one of you.

To quote three of our brilliant pupils:

Tom said,

"I'm so pleased with my results - thank you Purbrook for the last 5 years - hard work pays off"

Isabelle said,

"I'm actually in such shock! I'm so pleased. I'm really excited to go on and do my A-Levels, especially English Literature"

Marc added,

"I can't process it, but I'm very happy! Thank you Purbrook!"
