Business Studies Curriculum 2021/22

KS4 Year 9 – Cambridge Nationals Enterprise & Marketing

Autumn

Pupils will be taught the skills required to design, develop and deliver an effective pitch.

They will be taught how to understand how to effectively target a market, looking at key areas – customer / market segmentation and research methods (primary and secondary)

Spring

Pupils will be taught the skills to understand what makes a product/service financially viable.

They will be taught how to identify the factors that affect the viability of products/services.

Summer

Pupils will be taught the skills required to understand product development.

They will be taught the product lifecycle, product differentiation and the impact of external factors on product development.

KS4 Year 10 – Cambridge Nationals Enterprise & Marketing

Autumn Pupils will complete their learning of the theory for product development, viability of products/services.  They will look to using the skills they have gained from their first year and will plan and present a pitch for a given product.
Spring & Summer Pupils will begin their Ro65 coursework - they will be able to identify a customer profile for their own product design, develop market research tools and use these to complete market research for their product. Pupils will use their research outcomes to generate product design ideas, assess their strengths and weaknesses and work collaboratively with peers to gain feedback to inform final design decisions. They will complete financial calculations to select a pricing strategy and determine whether their proposal is viable.
