BTEC Sport Curriculum 2020/21

KS4 Year 9

Autumn

Pupils will gain experience and useable data from a variety of fitness tests. They will expected to accurately administer and tale part in the tests independently. They will also explore the skills, qualities and responsibilities of a sports leader and develop session plans of sports of their choice. In practical they will develop their leadership skills as well as take part in a variety of sports.

Spring

Pupils will research the rules, scoring systems and regulations of two sports of their choice. They will then present this information learning how the reference their sources. Practically they will continue to develop leadership skills as well as take part in a variety of sports.

Summer

Pupils will be expected to produce two templated to analyse their own performance in two sports. This will then be practiced before the formal deadline. Practically they will use their session plans to lead a practice session before their formal assessment.

KS4 Year 10

Autumn

Pupils will prepare for and then complete the following coursework based assignments. These will be in a variety of formats and have strict deadlines.

Assignments:

  • Skills qualities and responsibilities of sports leaders
  • Two session plans with risk assessments
  • Lead a session to others

Spring

Pupils will prepare for and then complete the following coursework based assignments. These will be in a variety of formats and have strict deadlines.

Assignments:

  • Comparison of two sports leaders
  • Evaluation of leadership

Summer

Pupils will prepare for and then complete the following coursework based assignments. These will be in a variety of formats and have strict deadlines.

Assignments:

  • PowerPoints that detail the rules, regulations and scoring system of two selected sports
  • The roles and responsibilities of officials
  • Analyse their own practical performance

KS4 Year 11

Autumn

The first term will be used to prepare for the examination unit to be taken in December. The content is: Components of fitness, methods of training and fitness testing.

Spring

Pupils will prepare for and then complete the following coursework based assignments. These will be in a variety of formats and have strict deadlines.

Assignments:

  • Plan a 6 weeks training programme
  • Complete a 6 week training programme maintaining a training diary
  • Describe the structure and short term effects on the musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems.

Summer

Pupils will prepare for and then complete the following coursework based assignments. These will be in a variety of formats and have strict deadlines.

Assignments:

  • Evaluate the 6 week training programme
  • Be formally assessed in two sports
