KS4 Year 9 – OCR GCSE Business |

Autumn |
Pupils will learn to explore how and why businesses start and grow. They will develop knowledge and understanding of business activity, including the purpose of business, planning a business and the different organisational structures. Pupils will also understand the aims and objectives of different businesses and learn how to grow a business. |

Spring |
Pupils will explore the purpose and role of marketing within business and how it influences business activity and the decisions businesses take. They will look at the role of marketing, the marketing mix, market segmentation and understand how marketing is used to increase sales and inform customers of their products or service. |

Summer |
Pupils explore the purpose and role of human resources within business and how it influences business activity and the decisions businesses take. They will look at different organisational structures within business, and the role of recruitment and training. |
KS4 Year 10 – OCR GCSE Business |

| Autumn | Pupils explore what business operations involve, their role within the production of goods and the provision of services, and how they influence business activity. They will look at different production methods and the importance of quality and service. Pupils will also look at consumer law and working with suppliers. |
| Spring |
Pupils explore the purpose of the finance function, its role in business and how it influences business activity. They will learn about the different sources of finance for a business, revenue, costs and profits. They will look at how business will calculate and use break-even to make decisions and how cash flow forecasts are used to plan financial decisions. |
| Summer | Pupils explore the importance of external influences on business and how businesses change in response to these influences, such as ethical and environmental factors which effect business descions. |
KS4 Year 11 – OCR GCSE Business |

Revision and application of exam structure techniques. |
| Spring & Summer |
Pupils will also consolidate knowledge and understanding of theory learnt through the course, in preparation for their written exams. |
