Purbrook Park School are Dance Live Champions for the second year running!

On Tuesday 21st April, 90 pupils from Purbrook Park School took to the stage at Portsmouth Guildhall for this year’s Dance Live Senior Finals — the UK’s largest performing arts competition for secondary schools.

Opening the event, they performed their powerful piece “Two Worlds, One Secret,” which delivered an important message about unity and working together to create a kinder, more beautiful world. Judge Jazz Gritt described the performance as “absolutely breathtaking and epic,” telling the pupils they had “smashed it.”

After a long wait for the remaining schools and colleges to perform, the results were finally announced — and Purbrook Park School were crowned champions, winning £1,000 for their school.

Dance Captain Lyle Wren said, “Taking on a leadership role in this year’s Dance Live has been such a privilege, and I have learnt so much. I am beyond proud of every dancer, and to come away with first prize is just the icing on the cake of what has been a brilliant journey.”

Lead Teacher of Performing Arts Amy Taylor added, “These pupils have poured their heart and soul into this piece and shown incredible commitment. I was blown away by their performance — the atmosphere and energy on stage were electric. There are truly no words to describe how proud I am of every single one of them. They have created memories and learnt life lessons that will stay with them forever.”
