Purbrook Park School Performers Celebrate National Dance Award Win

Purbrook Park School Performers are celebrating after being named winners of the Creative Choreography Award at this year’s prestigious UK Dance Awards.
Last month, the team discovered that they had been shortlisted as finalists in the Creative Choreography category, an achievement which recognised the originality and creativity of their work. On Sunday 4th October 2026, the team travelled to London to attend the glittering awards ceremony at the stunning Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden.
The evening was a memorable celebration of dance and the Purbrook team were completely surprised when their name was announced as the winners.
The award recognises the team’s commitment to creating original, thought provoking choreography and their continued ambition to push the boundaries of dance within secondary education.
Head of Performing Arts at Purbrook Park School, Amy Taylor, said:
“To win the Creative Choreography Award at such a prestigious event is a huge honour. Sam Strange, Becky Smith and I work tirelessly to create original and thought provoking choreography, so to have our work recognised by the wider dance industry is incredibly special.
“It is also hugely important for dance in secondary education. This award demonstrates the impact that the arts can have and shows that the creativity and talent within schools can stand alongside that of the wider dance industry. I am incredibly proud of my team, my pupils and, of course, myself.”
The award is a significant achievement for Purbrook Park School's Performers and highlights the exceptional standard of creative work being produced by pupils and staff at the school. Their success demonstrates how secondary school dance can make an impact beyond the classroom.
The team are now looking forward to continuing to develop ambitious and innovative choreography, with this latest award providing further recognition of the talent, creativity and dedication of Purbrook Park’s Performing Arts department.
