| CRITERIA:
The admissions number for academic year 2010/11 is 168.
The admission criteria that will be used in the event of oversubscription are set out below and are outlined in priority order.
1) Children who are in the care of a local authority or provided with accommodation by that authority in accordance with Section 22 of the Children Act 1989.
2) Children who have siblings who are attending Purbrook Park at the time of admission.
3) Children who attend one our of our linked schools: either Morelands Primary or Purbrook Junior.
4) Children who have a medical, physical or psychological condition which makes it essential that they attend Purbrook Park rather than any other school (appropriate medical or psychological evidence must be provided in support, at the time of application).
5) Children who live closest to the School, based on a straight line ('as the crow flies').
If the School is oversubscribed within any of the above categories, the distance criterion (see 5 above) will be used to prioritise applications. Distance will be measured in a straight line ('as the crow flies'), from the front door of the child's home address to the centre of the School. Distances to multiple dwellings will give priority to the ground floor over first floor and so on. These distances are obtained from Hampshire County Council computerised Geographic Information System (GIS).
Please note: The Governing Body will, as required by legislation, admit any pupils whose final Statement of special educational needs names the School.
PROCEDURE:
If you wish to seek admission for your child at Purbrook Park School, would you kindly:
1) Complete the Hampshire County Council Application Form (CAF) and return to your son/daughter's primary school no later than 12 o'clock midday on Friday 23 October 2009. Alternatively apply 'on line' by the same deadline. Entry decisions based on Purbrook Park's Admission Criteria – as listed above - will be made on the applications received by this time on that date.
2) No account will be taken of named preference when considering applications.
3) Names of late and unsuccessful applicants will be placed on a 'Waiting List', if requested, and parents will be informed if and when a place becomes available. The 'Waiting Lis'’ will be reviewed and revised:-
• Each time a child is added to, or removed from the 'Waiting List'
• in September 2010 parents of children who are on the 'Waiting List' will be contacted and asked if they wish to remain on the list for the current academic year
Please Note:
• Parents must note the Vision and Aims of the school and the Rewards and Sanctions Policy, as we will assume that application to join the school demonstrates acceptance of these policies.
APPEALS:
Parents seeking admission for their children who do not secure a place, have the right to appeal to an Independent Admission Appeals Panel. Details of procedure will be sent on receipt of written request to appeal.
OTHER INFORMATION:
The school prospectus giving information about the school and details of Admission Procedures will be published in September. Parents are encouraged to visit and view the school with their daughters/sons on the school's Open Evening and Open Day, or by appointment at other times.
Arrangements for admission are determined by the Governing Body, which is the accredited admission authority for the school.
Legislation
The policy takes account of all relevant legislation including the Education Act 2002, the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, legislation on sex discrimination, race relations and disability, together with all relevant regulations and the School Admission Code (DCSF 2009).
